For who ?

Pregnant women in their 3rd through 9th months, plus postpartum mothers with their babies, from 6 weeks after birth up to 1 year. An intimate group of 3 to 7 mothers (plus babies). A mix of pre- and postnatal participants to foster meaningful exchanges and build bridges across the perinatal care continuum.

What are the benefits?

  • Better physical health: relieving physical discomfort, reducing fatigue, building endurance and muscle strength, maintaining good posture, improving blood circulation and breathing, and strengthening or rehabilitating the pelvic floor
  • Better mental health: Reducing stress and anxiety, regulating emotions and the nervous system, preventing and alleviating symptoms of the baby blues and postpartum depression, improving body image and self-esteem, reconnecting with oneself and one’s feelings beyond the role of motherhood, and raising awareness of the challenges of motherhood.
  • Better relationship health: Breaking out of isolation, meeting other moms, building a support network, embracing your uniqueness, and forming a healthy bond with your baby.

The Method

This method brings together the best of what I’ve learned in art therapy (I hold a degree from HELB Ilya Prigogine), dance therapy (Apasito), prenatal dance (the @MamDanse method by Sonia Duchesne), and Matrescence dance (the “Move Your Emotions” method by Claudia Richli).

The framework is based on two pillars:

1) Freedom: to do or not to do, to adapt according to one’s own limits, desires, and needs—as well as those of one’s baby

2) Non-judgment: toward others (each with her own experiences and story) and toward oneself (no expectations of performance—it’s the process that counts!)

Pré-requis ?

  • Know how to carry your baby in a wrap or ergonomic baby carrier (depending on your preference, you can also dance with your baby in your arms or set them down on the floor, in a baby bouncer, or in a stroller)
  • A desire to connect your external movements (gestures) with your internal movements (emotions)
  • Approval from your doctor or physical therapist to engage in moderate-intensity physical activity (such as Pilates, walking, or swimming)
  • You don’t need to “know” how to dance—just the desire to move to music is enough!

I'm beautiful, I'm strong, I'm creative & I'm enough

We answer all of your questions !  ↓

I'm not really into babywearing—can I still come dance with my baby?

Of course! You can dance with your baby in your arms or on the floor, whichever you prefer.

Is it safe if I've had a C-section or a complicated delivery?

If your physical therapist tells you that you can gradually resume physical activity, you feel ready, and you don’t experience any pain when moving, then yes, go ahead. The method is safe and has been approved by perinatal health professionals.

What happens if my baby cries or needs to be breastfed during class?

Your baby’s needs come first, and attending to them will not disrupt the session in any way. We’re very understanding and flexible, so we can adapt the class to your needs.

What kind of dance is it?

I offer choreography inspired by a variety of dance styles: jazz, contemporary, African, flamenco, disco, forró, salsa, bachata, classical… So there’s something for everyone! I’ve selected the movements that are most beneficial for relieving recurring physical discomforts during pregnancy and the postpartum period (back pain, heavy legs…) and those that aid in preparation and rehabilitation before and after childbirth (pelvic mobility, pelvic floor awareness…). Once again, you don’t need specific technical dance skills to participate in these workshops.
